Hodge the Cat

James Boswell, in his biography of Johnson, wrote of "the indulgence with which he [Johnson] treated Hodge ... for whom he himself used to go out and buy oysters, lest the servants having that trouble should take a dislike to the poor creature."

A statue of Hodge was erected in the 1990s outside Johnson's home at Gough Square in the City of London.
